The future of LeBron James continues to be one of the big topics in the NBA market and Draymond Green confirmed that he took advantage of a recent golf trip with the star to try to convince him to join the Golden State Warriors.
During an episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the power forward acknowledged that he spoke with James about the possibility of sharing a team next season.
“I’d be crazy if we spent several days together and at no point did I say, ‘We need to talk. What’s going on? What are we going to do?'” Green said.
The 36-year-old veteran declined his $27.7 million player option for the 2026-27 season and, according to various reports, is expected to sign a new multi-year contract with Golden State. That decision could give the franchise the financial flexibility needed to try to bring in LeBron.
Green admitted that his proposal was serious, although he clarified that he did not turn the trip into a recruiting meeting.
“Of course the speech was intense. With the things I said to him, I probably made him think a little, but we weren’t going to spend the entire trip just talking about that,” he explained.
The Warriors have also been linked with a possible attempt to acquire Anthony Davis, current player for the Washington Wizards and former teammate of LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the capital organization would have ruled out the possibility of negotiating the center, who still has a guaranteed year of contract and a player option for the 2027-28 campaign.
Meanwhile, Stephen Curry recently acknowledged that playing alongside James “would be a unique story in the NBA,” although he considered that it is still too early to take such a move for granted.
For his part, Rich Paul, LeBron James’ agent, assured last week that there is no imminent decision regarding the future of the leading scorer in NBA history. In addition to the Warriors, teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets also appear among the possible destinations for the four-time league champion.
