From starring in intense duels in the Spanish LaLiga to sharing a dressing room in the MLS. Casemiro is very close to becoming a new player for Inter Miami, a team led by Lionel Messi, according to Fabrizio Romano and confirmed by various Spanish media.
The experienced Brazilian midfielder, who was free after ending his contract with Manchester United, has practically closed his landing in Florida. However, the deal still must overcome some administrative hurdles related to Major League Soccer rules and the negotiating rights that LA Galaxy holds.
The main obstacle is the so-called Discovery List, an MLS mechanism that allows clubs to register up to five players from abroad and obtain priority to negotiate with them. Casemiro is currently on that LA Galaxy list, so Inter Miami will have to reach an economic agreement to release those rights and complete the signing.
Beyond the bureaucratic details, the former Real Madrid player’s decision seems to have been made a long time ago. Casemiro owns property in Miami and considers the city the ideal place to settle with his family. Furthermore, the strong presence of the Brazilian community in South Florida was an important factor in tipping the balance in favor of the pink club.
The midfielder rejected proposals from Saudi Arabia and some European teams, prioritizing his quality of life and a destination that fits with his personal plans for the coming years.
Before starting this new stage, Casemiro maintains his focus on the 2026 World Cup with the Brazil team. The midfielder has reiterated that this tournament will be his final farewell to the Canarinha and seeks to close his cycle in the best possible way.
After a debut questioned due to his lack of rhythm, the Brazilian regained prominence in subsequent matches and has once again established himself as a key piece in Carlo Ancelotti’s scheme. The Italian coach personally promoted his return to the national team after almost two years of absence, convinced that his experience would be essential in the fight for the long-awaited sixth world title.
Together with Bruno Guimarães, identified as one of the heirs to his midfield position, Casemiro aspires to win the only trophy missing from his brilliant career: the World Cup.
If his arrival at Inter Miami is completed, the Brazilian will add experience, leadership and hierarchy to a project that already includes figures such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, reinforcing the club’s aspirations to become a power both in the MLS and on the international stage.
