Netherlands thrashes Sweden and is one step away from the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup

The Netherlands gave a coup of authority in Group F of the 2026 World Cup by convincingly beating Sweden 5-1 this Saturday in Houston, a result that brings it closer to qualifying for the round of 32.

The team led by Ronald Koeman dominated the match from start to finish and found its main figures in Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo. Brobbey opened the scoring just in the 5th minute and extended the lead to the 17th minute, while Gakpo practically sealed the game with goals in the 47th and 54th minutes.

Sweden tried to react after the break and found the discount through Anthony Elanga in the 59th minute, but never managed to fully get into the fight for the result. The Dutch team maintained control of the ball and took advantage of the spaces to continue generating danger.

As the match came to an end, Crysencio Summerville put the icing on the cake with a powerful right foot in the 89th minute to seal the win and spark the celebration of the Dutch fans present at the Houston Stadium.

The match featured special guests in the stands, including members of the Artemis II space mission and members of the Dutch royal family, who witnessed one of the team’s most convincing performances in the group stage.

With this result, the Netherlands is fully involved in the fight for the lead in Group F and will seek to secure its ticket to the round of 32 on June 25 against Tunisia in Kansas City. For its part, Sweden is forced to react when it faces Japan in Dallas.
