Donald Trump as “the biggest attraction in the world” instead of “overpriced musician”: After several artists canceled, the US President wants a rally for his “Make America great again” movement instead of concerts at the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States – with himself as the main speaker. Several musicians had previously criticized the organization of the planned event.

“Cancel it,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social online service on Saturday (local time), referring to the concerts planned so far. A big rally by his MAGA movement is better than performances by “overpriced singers that no one wants to hear, whose music is boring, and who still do nothing but complain.”

Instead, Trump said he had in mind a rally with himself as the keynote speaker. After all, he is “the biggest attraction in the world, the one who draws far larger crowds than Elvis in his heyday, and without a guitar.” He, “whom some say is the greatest president in history,” could take the place of “these third-rate ‘artists’” on the stage, Trump wrote. He is looking into whether a rally on the National Mall in Washington with the title “America is Back” could be organized instead of the concerts.

The concerts were scheduled to take place on the National Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument during the celebrations scheduled from June 25th to July 10th. However, in the past few days, five of the nine artists had canceled their participation, including country singer Martina McBride and the singer of the glam rock band Poison, which was successful in the 80s, Bret Michaels.

“Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something far more divisive than what I wanted to be a part of,” Michaels wrote on Facebook. The remaining musicians and bands Vanilla Ice and C+C Music Factory, whose musical heyday dates back decades, were showered with ridicule on the Internet.

Recently, plans for a $250 bill with Trump’s likeness provoked criticism and malice. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the government is preparing such a note to mark the 250th anniversary of the US. In addition, a cage fight event is planned directly in front of the White House for Trump’s 80th birthday on June 14th. An arena is currently being built in front of the White House for mixed martial arts (MMA) fights.
