Manchester City prepares for a possible departure of Guardiola

Pep Guardiola’s future is once again surrounded by uncertainty. According to several British media, Manchester City would already be preparing for the possible departure of the Spanish coach at the end of the season.

According to The Daily Mail, Guardiola will leave the citizen bench after the last Premier League match against Aston Villa. For its part, the BBC assured that the club “hopes it continues”, although there would already be internal movements anticipating a farewell.

The Catalan coach, 55, has a contract until 2027, but in recent months he has avoided completely closing the door on an exit.

Since his arrival in 2016, Guardiola has transformed City into one of the great powers of European football. Under his command, the team won 20 titles, including six Premier Leagues and one Champions League.

In the current season, the blue team has already lifted the League Cup and the FA Cup, although their chances of winning the Premier League again were compromised after Arsenal’s victory against Burnley.

To be crowned champions, City needs to beat Bournemouth and Aston Villa in the last two rounds, in addition to expecting Arsenal to stumble against Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, speculation has already begun about his possible replacement. The main candidate would be Enzo Maresca, former Chelsea coach and former member of Guardiola’s coaching staff.
