Argentine Soccer Team adds Google as a global sponsor

The Argentine Soccer Team presented in Miami its new strategic alliance with Google, which becomes the Main Global Sponsor of the national teams of the Argentine Soccer Association. The agreement reinforces the international expansion of the Albiceleste brand and opens a new stage of technological innovation linked to football.

The presentation took place at one of the venues for the next World Cup and brought together representatives from sports, business and technology. The agreement includes global exclusivity in artificial intelligence and search engines, in addition to a strong Gemini presence in official training clothing.

Leandro Petersen: “Google sees a global reach in AFA”

In exclusive statements to Diario Las Américas, Leandro Petersen, commercial head and commercial manager of the AFA, explained why Google chose to partner with the world champion team.

“They were interested in Argentina because today it is one of the most important sports brands in the world, because it leads the audience conversation on social networks globally, because it has won many titles and has generated interest from many markets.”

He also highlighted the impact of Lionel Messi as a global figure.

“Of course, also because of the figure of Lionel Messi as a great ambassador of world sport.”

Petersen added that AFA’s sustained commercial growth was decisive in closing this agreement.

“A path has been made in these years to transform the AFA into an attractive brand, transversal to all audiences and very diverse in its audiences, in the Middle East, China, India and the United States.”

Ramiro Sánchez: “We chose Argentina as the spearhead for Gemini”

On behalf of Google, its CMO for Latin America, Ramiro Sánchez, also spoke exclusively to Diario Las Américas about the reasons behind the alliance.

“The Argentine soccer team is today the soccer brand with the greatest reputation and one of the most dominant in the global social media chatter when it comes to soccer.”

“This led us to evaluate it, consider it and choose it as our spearhead for partnership for Gemini.”

How AI will change the fan experience

Sánchez explained that Gemini will have three main uses for fans: data analysis, creativity and music.

“We can analyze plays, discuss possible scenarios or talk about who would be the best player to take a penalty against a certain goalkeeper.”

In addition, he highlighted the creative potential of tools like Nano Banana.

“We can generate images or memes to celebrate our team’s victory, warm up before a game or make fun of our rivals.”

And he also mentioned Lyria to create fan songs with artificial intelligence.

“With a prompt it is very easy to create a song for the fans.”

International expansion of the AFA

Petersen also revealed that the AFA is in talks with sports organizations in the United States, including the Miami Dolphins, for future joint actions.

“The idea is to start doing things with Argentine soccer and replicate it with various actions throughout the year.”

With this alliance, the Argentine Soccer Team strengthens its global positioning and adds one of the world’s technological giants as a new strategic partner.
