Marc Márquez acknowledges that the shoulder injury made him change his driving style

BURIRAM.- The current world champion Moto GP, Marc Marquezstated this Thursday that a persistent shoulder injury forced him to change his driving style.

The Moto GP season starts this weekend in Thailand and the Spanish pilot of Ducati aspires to achieve an eighth world title, with which he would equal the record of eight of Giacomo Agostini.

Márquez secured the world title last year with five races remaining, but a shoulder injury forced him to miss the final four Grands Prix of the year.

The 33-year-old rider assured that this injury “was not easy”, and that he still suffers, which has forced him to change the configuration of the bike until he is back in full shape.

“I took a step back in aerodynamics. One of the reasons is that, at the moment, I can’t ride a bike the same way I did last year,” he explained.

“The aerodynamics of 2025 were a little more demanding, physically tougher. (…) I’m trying to adapt my driving style to my current physical condition,” he added.

The eldest of the Márquez brothers – his brother Álex (2nd last year) also competes in the top category World Cup – was confident that he would be able to deal with the consequences of the injury and that it would not affect his results.

“One of my skills is adapting to what I have and what I need,” he said. “I am going to try once again, in my racing career, to adapt my driving style to this new situation until I feel more prepared.”

Return in style

Márquez completed a triumphant return after his injury last year, winning his first World Cup since 2019. And he did it in a big way, winning 25 races, including sprint races.

“The goal (this year), if you wear a red Ducati shirt, is to fight for the championship,” he said.

His brother Alex (Gresini) has been one of the strong men of the preseason, setting the best times in the tests Malaysiaalthough he confessed that it is not something he gave too much importance to.

“Not only after this race weekend, but after three or four races we will see where we are and what we can fight for this year,” he said.
