US Federal Reserve Fed announces key interest decision

The US Federal Reserve (Fed) US Federal Reserve (FED) will make its key interest on Wednesday. Fed boss Jerome Powell then wants to step in front of the press (8:00 p.m. CEST). Powell and the Fed have been exposed to massive pressure by US President Donald Trump for months. Trump demands an interest cut by three percentage points. Among other things, he justifies this with cheaper real estate loans for consumers.

Most experts, however, assume that the central bank will leave the key interest rate unchanged between 4.25 and 4.5 percent. The FED has so far justified its reluctance with risks from Trump’s customs policy. The central bank has been warning of significantly increasing consumer prices and higher unemployment figures for months.
