The Spanish pilot Borja Gómez He died this Thursday after suffering an accident while training in the French Circuit of Magny-Cours, according to sources from the City of San Javier, where he was the Iberian athlete, who was barely 20 years old.
Gomez was overwhelmed by a partner with whom he shared the track and who could not hold him when he fell to the ground.
The young man began his pilot career in 2014 at the Minimotard Spain Championship. He then went up to Supermotard and ended as third in the Kawasaki Cup in 2019.
Also, in 2021 he was Superbike’s Spanish champion in the Supersport category and in 2022 he was a national runner -up of Superbike 1,000.
“With all the pain of our heart, we regret to communicate that Borja Gómez has died in the Magy-Cours circuit after a serious accident in the first free training of the European European Championship,” his team reported, Honda Laglisee, in a statement. “Beyond his exceptional talent as a pilot, we will remember Borja as the great person who was.”
Borja came to debut at the Moto2 World Cup, replacing Jorge Navarro at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The good performance he had gave him a second chance, at the Valencia Grand Prix, where he ended up at the points.
