White house: Trump announces on Tuesday "exciting" News to the Pentagon

The White House has announced an “exciting” news for Tuesday that affects the Pentagon. US President Donald Trump will make an “exciting announcement in connection with the Ministry of Defense,” said his spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday in a statement that the AFP news agency presented. At first she did not give any more details.

According to Trump’s daily program, an announcement from the Oval Office is scheduled for 2 p.m. (local time, 8 p.m. CEST). No further information on the appointment was mentioned. It would be the first public appearance of the US President for a week.

Trump always likes to describe himself as “president of peace”. The right -wing populist makes no secret of the fact that he believes that he is entitled to the Nobel Peace Prize for his mediation efforts in international conflicts. Since returning to the White House, he has already been boasting six conflicts – however, a ceasefire in Ukraine as well as in the Gaza Strip, despite intensive efforts, have not been part of it.

Regardless of this, Trump has repeatedly brought the pentagon to “Department of War” (Ministry of War) into play in the past few weeks. He justified the advance by the fact that the current name was “too defensive”.

“That was the name when we won the First World War when we won the Second World War when we won everything,” Trump said Monday in front of journalists last week. “We want to be defensive, but we also want to be offensive. We have to. It just sounded better for me,” he added.

Trump said he did not know whether the congress of such a name change had to agree. However, he was certain that the MPs would join her if this would be the case.

Defense Minister Pete Hegseth also indicated the upcoming change of name of his department. “It’s not just about words – it’s about war ethics,” said Hegseth last week at a cabinet session. The former moderator of Trump’s housekeeper Fox News and veteran of US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan added to Trump: “We don’t want a war, we are not looking for him. You are the Frieden President, Sir.”
