White house fires boss of the US health authority

The White House released the head of the US health authority CDC, Susan Monarez, in office after less than a month. Monarez votes “Donald Trump’s agenda” Donald Trump, the White House announced on Wednesday (local time). However, her lawyers said that Monarez would not accept the discharge and will not vacate her post for the time being.

According to the lawyers, she was informed of the dismissal by the personnel department of the White House. “As a officer confirmed by the President, she can only dismiss her himself,” she said. The discharge is therefore “insufficient”.

The head of the fighting and prevention authority had previously overturned Kennedy with US Minister of Health and vaccination skeptic. According to reports from the “Washington Post”, Kennedy had put the head of the authorities under pressure. She had refused to support Kennedy’s vaccination reforms.

Against the background of the dispute, another five high -ranking officials from the authority resigned independently. “Many felt forced to give up their jobs they loved because politics left no choice to them,” said the AfGE union, which represents more than 2,000 employees of the authority.

One of them was Demetre Daskalaki, which led the department for immunization and respiratory diseases. “Enough is enough,” he said in online service X. The US government uses the authority as “tools for guidelines and measures that do not correspond to scientific reality and harm public health instead of improving it”.

According to US media reports, the medical chief official Debra Houry resigned next to him. The same was true for the head of the department for newly emerging diseases and infections that are transmitted by animals, Daniel Jernigan.

Since taking office, Minister of Health Kennedy has limited access to Corona vaccines, among other things, and put together the funds for the development of new vaccines. The measures are sharply criticized within the US health authorities and independent experts.

At the beginning of August, a man near the headquarters of the CDC authority in Atlanta shot a police officer. According to media reports, the alleged attacker had previously blamed his Corona vaccination for an illness that was not described in more detail. Hundreds of employees and former employees of the health authority then accused Kennedy in an open letter to put employees in danger with false information about vaccinations.
