It was July 4, 1953. During the 1950s, Miami began to become a key point for Spanish -speaking immigrants, especially for Cubans, Central Americans and South Americans who were looking for economic opportunities or fled from authoritarian regimes.
In that context, and that of the lead plates with which in those years the miracle of printing was achieved, at the initiative of the brothers Horacio and Francisco Aguirre Baca came to light the first copy of Diario Las Américas, pioneer of the press in Spanish in the state of Florida.
Fulfilling 72 years for a means of communication in these times, rather than a challenge, constitutes a survival testimony. During the last thirteen years, the ability to adapt to Las Américas Diario, without giving up its essence and at the same time evolving and growing, has been possible thanks to the delivery of the team of professionals that gives it life and the social and political commitment of Nelson J. Mezerhane G., who heads this editorial house, as well as the business group to which we belong.
