Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin has made approval of a ceasefire proposed by the USA in the war against Ukraine in terms of conditions. In the event of an excited press conference, he called for a permanent peaceful solution to the conflict – but did not deploy the maximum demands that have already been expressed. In the evening there was still a meeting of Putin and the US specialist Steve Witkoff in Moscow.
“We agree to hiring the fighting,” said Putin, thanking US President Donald Trump for the initiative to terminate the war. “But we assume that this stop should be so that it leads to long -term peace and eliminates the causes of the conflict.”
Questions about checking this ceasefire would also have to be clarified. It is unclear how the location along the front line that extends “over almost 2,000 kilometers” should be observed. Putin expressed concerns that the fire break would be broken – and both warring parties would blame each other for such incidents. Moscow rejects European peace troops to secure a possible ceasefire.
Putin sees ceasefire as an opportunity for Ukraine
Putin also indicated that the Ukraine could take a deep breath, revenue and recruit new soldiers to take a deep breath, then continue to war. This is unacceptable. For its part, Ukraine sees the risk that the Russian troops could use a ceasefire to reorganize.

Ukrainian troops had conquered land in the summer in a surprising counterattack and thus brought the war back to the ground of the attacker for the first time.

Donald Trump reacts to Putin

United States negotiators for talks in Moscow
