The Islamist Hamas initially did not transmit the list of the three hostages that are hoped for by many Israelis. The names were expected until 4:00 p.m. local time (3 p.m. CET), as Israeli media reported.
However, the terrorist organization had later transmitted the list lists in earlier exposure actions later than agreed. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that the head of government was continuously informed about the development during his official visit to the USA.
Hamas accuses Israel of delaying the aid deliveries agreed as part of the Gaza deal. According to a message, goods such as tents, equipment to remove rubble and fuel, said Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Kanu. Israel denies this.
According to Israeli media reports, relatives of hostages had said that Hamas could terminate the agreement of an ceasefire and the exchange of hostages for imprisoned Palestinians due to the controversial plans of US President Donald Trump to relocate the Palestinian from the Gaza Strip.
Trump had announced in the presence of Netanyahus in Washington that the USA would “take over” the Gaza Strip and transform it into an economically flourishing “Riviera of the Middle East”. According to Trump’s will, the residents of the area are to be accommodated in other Arab countries in the region. The statement met with criticism internationally and especially among Palestinians. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio later relativized the statements.
According to the ceasefire agreement, Hamas has to inform about the names of the freely to be released. In return, dozens of Palestinian prisoners are to be released from Israeli prisons.
Accordingly, 79 hostages are still recorded in the Gaza Strip. However, 35 of them are probably no longer alive.
During the first six-week phase of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, 33 Gaza Geiseln are to be replaced by Palestinians detained for 1,904. So far, 13 Israeli hostages have been released in four release promotions. Hamas also left five Thai countries, which was not part of the agreement. In return, Israel left 583 Palestinians free.
