WadePhul wants to achieve more humanitarian aid for gaza strips when visiting Israel

Against the background of growing international pressure on Israel, Federal Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul (CDU) wants to work on a visit to the region on Thursday, especially for increased aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip. Israel must enable the “safe and effective distribution” of relief goods, demanded WadePhul, who arrived in Tel Aviv in the afternoon. Israel must “ensure comprehensive, comprehensive and sustainable situation in the catastrophic location in the Gaza Strip”.

In view of the increasing number of western countries that are recognized by the Palestinian state, WadePhul confirmed Germany’s “negotiated” two -state solution. The recognition of a Palestinian state is “at the end” of a negotiation process for Germany. “But such a process has to begin now,” he emphasized in a declaration published shortly before his trip.

In France and Great Britain, Canada was also available on Thursday to “recognize the state of Palestine at the 80th meeting of the UN General Assembly in September 2025”. Portugal announced that this step also checked.

Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas welcomed the “historical” decision of Canada. The Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, however, rejected the possible diplomatic recognition of a Palestinian state as an attempt at intimidation.

“We are not intimidated with sanctions, or to recognize a future Palestinian state,” said Saar shortly before his meeting with WadePhul of the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”. A Palestinian state that was founded today would be “a jihadist terrorist in the middle of our core country,” said Saar.

The Israeli Foreign Minister welcomed the reserved position of the German government. “Germany is the only leading country that is still rational,” he said.

US President Donald Trump threatened that Canada’s announcement made a trade agreement in his country “very difficult”.

At a UN conference on the two-state solution, 15 western countries had already launched an appeal for the Palestinians on Tuesday. In another explanation in which the Arab league and several Arab countries also participated, the disarmament of Islamist Hamas was also required.

The UN conference showed that “Israel is more and more found in a minority position,” said WadePhul. The “dying and suffering in the Gaza Strip” “assumed incredible dimensions”.

According to the Hamas Civil protection, 58 people were killed the evening before. The Israeli army said that he had given warning shots but not to have any information about possible victims. A correspondent of the AFP news agency saw the corpses of several dozen shot men in the corpse hall of the Al-Schifa Hospital in the city of Gaza on Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon and evening, WadePhul also wanted to meet the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem. On Friday, meetings with UN employees in Jerusalem and with representatives of the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah in the West Bank are on Wadepephuls’s program.

The US special envoy Steve Witkoff is also currently talking to talks about the “next steps” in Israel. He met Netanyahu on Thursday. Trump commented on the visit of his envoy in his online service Truth Social with the words: “The fastest means to end the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is the surrender of Hamas and the liberation of the hostages.”
