According to the authorities, never before have so many people voted in the battleground US state of Georgia on the first day of early voting for the US election as this time. More than 300,000 votes were cast in the swing state on Tuesday, Gabriel Sterling, who was responsible for the election, said on the X platform. According to him, the last record for a first day of voting was 136,000 votes in 2020. Sterling spoke of a “spectacular turnout” for which there is a lack of adjectives.
Donald Trump was satisfied with the high voter turnout during a campaign appearance in Atlanta. “The votes are coming in, and they’re coming in at a good level for us,” the Republican candidate said.

Elections in the USA: it will be close between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump
The presidential election in the USA will take place on November 5th. According to polls, there is likely to be a neck-and-neck race between Democrat Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Early voting has already begun in several states. Voting before election day, either in person or by mail, is becoming increasingly popular among U.S. voters. In 2020, nearly one in seven voters cast their ballot before Election Day, according to data from the University of Florida Election Analysis Center. Nevertheless, many Republicans reject postal voting because they consider it less secure.
Voters are looking with excitement to the particularly contested so-called swing states in which the election is likely to be decided. Georgia was one of the states that played a key role in the outcome of the 2020 election. The Democrat Joe Biden won the state by around 12,000 votes. Trump tried to have his election defeat there – as in other states – subsequently changed. Among other things, he called on Georgia’s top election supervisor, his Republican party colleague Brad Raffensperger, to “find” enough votes for him in order to “recalculate” the result and turn it in his favor. Trump is facing charges over his attempts to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the state.
