The new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio begins his first trip abroad on Saturday since taking office with a visit to Panama. The journey takes place after repeated threats from US President Donald Trump to bring the Panama Canal back under the control of his country. Panama is the first stop of the journey of the Foreign Minister with Cuban roots, which leads him in a total of five smaller Latin American countries. Rubio will then visit El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
