Republican Donald Trump has no problem with statements that are well below the belt. Now he is attacking his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris in this way.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump provoked voters during the election campaign by spreading a vulgar remark about his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris. Trump shared a post by another user on the Truth Social platform, which he co-founded, which suggested that sexual favors might have boosted Harris’ political career.
The post features an older photo of Kamala Harris alongside former US Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who ran against Trump in the 2016 election campaign. The comment reads: “Funny how blowjobs have had different effects on both of their careers…”
The crude remark is an allusion to a sex scandal in which Clinton’s husband Bill was involved during his presidency (1993 – 2001). Trump supporters, on the other hand, are spreading completely unsubstantiated claims about Harris, according to which her romantic relationship with an influential politician in California in the 1990s helped her career.
Trump did not write the post himself. The fact that he shared it on his official Truth Social account is nevertheless remarkable. The Republican regularly denigrates his Democratic opponent in the presidential race, calling her “crazy” and “stupid” among other things. Trump has also attacked Harris with regard to her skin color and origins, claiming, among other things, that the 59-year-old “suddenly turned black a few years ago.” Verbal attacks of a sexual nature have taken on a new quality.
Several Republicans recently publicly advised Trump to make fewer personal attacks against Harris and instead make more substantive points. Trump was recently asked about these warnings at a press conference, but dismissed such advice. “I think I have a right to attack her personally,” said the 78-year-old, referring to Harris and the election campaign, adding: “I have to do it my way.”
During the 2016 election campaign, Trump caused a furore with a vulgar statement that he could touch women anywhere, including between their legs. Americans still elected him president.
