US Democrats begin voting on Harris as presidential candidate

The US Democrats will begin voting on Thursday to officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate. Five days are scheduled for the electronic vote. Harris’ candidacy is certain. According to party headquarters, 99 percent of the participating party delegates in the nomination process so far supported her application for the presidential candidacy. She has no competition in the final decision that is now pending.

The Democrats have new hopes of defeating the Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump since the 81-year-old incumbent Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he would not run again and instead endorsed the 59-year-old Harris. The very next day, Harris announced that she had secured enough delegates for her nomination. In the average of the national polls, Harris is just behind Trump, but her gap is smaller than that of Biden.
