Because of the thin majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives, approval is not considered safe. A handful of conservative financial politicians consistently rejects transitional households because, from their point of view, they increase the USA. The new transitional budget should give US President Donald Trump time to promote his agenda with tax relief, deportations of migrants and more oil and gas production.
The opposition Democrats have already announced that they reject the draft budget – especially against the background of the financial and personnel cuts in the public service promoted by Elon Musk. The legal text proposed by the Republicans “closes the door for negotiations” and was “a blank check for Elon Musk”, criticized the democratic MP Rosa Delauro.
Only shortly before Christmas had an impending budget lock averted at the last minute. With the current transitional budget, the state finances are only secured until March 14th. A budget lock means unpaid compulsory vacation for hundreds of thousands of state employees and restrictions on public life.
Since 1981 there have been more than a dozen of these standstings in the United States, the longest lasted during Trump’s first presidency at the turn of 2018/2019.
