Ukraine Selenskji ready for resignation-in return for NATO membership

President Selenskyj does not seem too great for membership of Ukraine in NATO. Now he would apparently also withdraw from his office for this goal.

The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj has agreed to resign immediately if his country was added to NATO in return. “If there is peace for Ukraine, if you really want me to give up my post, I am ready-I can exchange it for NATO (membership),” said Selenskyj on Sunday at a press conference in Kiev. He would go “immediately” if that was necessary, he emphasized.

The Ukrainian president apparently reacted to statements by US President Donald Trump, who described him a few days ago as the “dictator without elections” and categorically excluded a NATO membership of Ukraine. Because no choice can be held because of the war in his country, Selenskyj has been in office for a long time than his mandate, which is actually limited to five years.

Ukraines raw materials on Trump’s wish list

From Trump, he wanted mutual “understanding” and concrete security guarantees for Ukraine, Selenskyj said at the press conference in Kiev. Before there-as announced by this-there is a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, he himself wanted to meet the US President to advise on Ukrainian raw materials about a planned agreement. However, he is not ready to sign an agreement “for which ten generations of Ukrainians have to pay”.

Trump had made a U-turn in the Ukraine policy of the United States in the past few weeks. After a long phone call to Kremlin boss Putin, he sent his Foreign Minister Marco Rubio to direct talks with Russian government officials about Ukraine, without representatives of Ukraine or the EU. Trump also blamed the Ukrainian president for the beginning of the Ukraine War.

The United States also presented a draft for a UN-Resolution for the Ukraine War for Monday, the third anniversary of the Ukraine War, in which Russia is not named as an aggressor in the war and the demand for territorial integrity of Ukraine is missing-im Contrary to a draft resolution in Ukraine and European ally.

Selenskyj’s hope for “turning point”

At the weekend, US President Trump also confirmed that his government intended to have the help for Ukraine who had been rewarded by the United States in recent years. “I try to get or secure the money,” said Trump at a conference of conservative US activists and politicians: “We want rare earth and oil, everything we can get.”

On Monday the beginning of the Russian attack war against Ukraine marks the third time. On this occasion, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen travels to Kiev with her commission. According to Selenskyj, a total of 13 heads of state and government take part in a meeting in the Ukrainian capital on that day, and another 24 would be switched on by video. He hoped for a “turning point,” said the Ukrainian head of state.
