Ukraine: Coalition of the willing advises on Thursday with Selenskyj

The coalition of the willing wants to advise on Thursday with the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj about security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of an armistice. Selenskyj is expected in Paris that other participants would be switched on by video, the Elysée said on Monday. President Emmanuel Macron leads the meeting together with the British Prime Minister Keir Strandmer, it said.

According to diplomatic circles, US President Donald Trump is not expected. It was not yet clear whether and in what form Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) participated in the meeting.

“Nobody talks about ground forces in Ukraine at the present time,” Merz emphasized on Sunday in the ZDF “Summer Interview”. “We try to end (the war) as soon as possible. But certainly not at the price of the surrender of Ukraine,” said Merz. The consequence would be: “Then the next country is the day after tomorrow. And then we are tomorrow,” warned Merz.

He was prepared for the fact that the war in Ukraine could take a long time. Therefore, the defense capacity of Ukraine has “absolute priority”

The US government has been in the end of the war for months. However, there was no meeting between Trump’s prospect between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Selenskyj.
