Trump’s hate message: Taylor Swift fans spontaneously raise $40,000

After a hate message from Donald Trump against pop singer Taylor Swift, her fans spontaneously collected more than $40,000 in donations for the election campaign of Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris. “When we saw the post, we immediately knew this was an opportunity,” said a statement released on Monday by the campaign group “Swifties for Kamala.”

They immediately became active online with text responses and called for further donations. “Swifties know that haters will hate,” they continued. Republican presidential candidate Trump wrote on Sunday on his online platform Truth Social: “I hate Taylor Swift.” He did not add anything else to his message, which was written in capital letters.

Trump was angered by Swift’s positioning in the US presidential election campaign last Tuesday and her support for the Democratic Vice President Harris. The pop superstar has hundreds of millions of followers on online networks, and her Instagram post after the TV debate between Trump and Harris was liked by more than ten million fans.

Almost two months ago, supporters of the singer came together without the participation of their idol in the group “Swifties for Kamala” and organized an election and fundraising campaign for the Democratic candidate. According to their own statements, they have collected more than 207,000 dollars (186,000 euros) since the start of their campaign.
