Trump: US Army will stay until compliance with the "real agreement" stationed near Iran

After agreeing to a two-week ceasefire in the Iran war, US President Donald Trump announced that the US army would remain close to Iran. “All US ships, aircraft and military personnel” would “remain stationed in and around Iran until the real agreement reached is fully adhered to,” Trump said on his Truth Social online service on Wednesday (local time). Otherwise, “there will be more firing than anyone has ever seen,” he added.

According to Trump, the US Army members should be equipped “with additional ammunition, weapons and everything else that is appropriate and necessary for the lethal pursuit and destruction of an already significantly weakened enemy.”

At the same time, Trump emphasized that the failure of the agreement was “highly unlikely.” “In the meantime, our great army is gearing up and resting, actually looking forward to its next conquest. America is back,” Trump wrote.

After more than five weeks of war, the USA and Iran agreed on a two-week ceasefire on Tuesday. Trump announced the agreement on Wednesday night CEST. In return, Iran agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz – but stressed it would retain “control” of the strait crucial for global trade.
