Trump: U.S. Sonderstanders Witkoff travels to Russia on Wednesday or Thursday

Shortly before the end of a period set by US President Donald Trump to end the Ukraine War, the US specialist Steve Witkoff travels to Moscow. Witkoff will fly “I think next week, Wednesday or Thursday”, to Russia, said Trump on Sunday (local time). Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow spoke of an “important” visit on Monday and did not meet a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

The US President had set a period of ten days last Tuesday to end the attacks on Ukraine. Putin should “complete a deal that ends the killing of people,” said Trump in front of journalists on Sunday. After the deadline, Washington threatens new sanctions. These could also meet Russia such as China and India.

Trump had sent two nuclear submarines towards Russia last week, which, according to the US President, are now “in the region”. He did not comment on whether it was submarines with a nuclear drive or those with nuclear armament. Also, he did not explain exactly where the boats should be stationed. The positions of atomic submarines of the US armed forces are strictly secret.

The US President had justified the relocation with statements by former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev. In a word battle held in the online services X and Telegram, this had alluded to Trump on the Russian nuclear weapons.

Kremlin spokesman Peskow warned Trump on Monday to restraint. “We believe that everyone should exercise very, very great caution in their statements on the subject of atom,” Peskow said to journalists in Moscow. In fact, the situation is unchanged: the two submarines of the United States had already been “on duty”, Peskow continued. “We don’t want to be dragged into such a dispute.”

Kyiv welcomed the posting announced by Trump. “The concept of peace through strength works,” wrote the Ukrainian presidential office chief Andrij Jermak in online services on Monday. “At the moment when American nuclear submarines appeared, a Russian drinker – who had just threatened on X with a nuclear war – suddenly quietly became,” he added.

Moscow had so far been unimpressed by Trump’s threats of new sanctions. So far, Putin has always excluded suggestions for a ceasefire. The Russian conditions for an end to the attacks on Ukraine “remain the same”, he said on Friday in front of journalists.

Russia demands full control over the four Ukrainian regions, which it declared to be annexed, and a waiver of Ukraine on NATO accession. Kyiv has always rejected both claims as “unacceptable”.

In the night of Monday, the Russian air defense caught 61 drones from Ukraine, according to the Department of Defense. The government in Kiev had previously announced that it was responding to Russian territory to Russian territory in response to Russian attacks with dozens of killed civilians. On Sunday, a Ukrainian drone attack, according to Russian authorities, triggered a fire in a oil camp near the Black Sea bathing resort of Sochi.

In Ukraine, a person was killed in Russian attacks on the Cherson region, as the authorities announced on Telegram on Monday. According to President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, the preparations for a prisoner exchange on both sides, which Russia and Ukraine had agreed in Turkey in July in July. 1200 soldiers should return to Ukraine.

Trump had promised a quick end of the war in Ukraine after his re -entry into the White House and had gone to Putin, which was followed with great concern in Europe. Recently, however, the Republican commented on Moscow increasingly frustrated.
