WASHINGTON.– The president of USADonald trumpreaffirmed his intention of wanting to speak with Nicolás Ripehead of the regime in Venezuela“in an easy way” in order to “save lives”, but warned that he could also “do it the hard way” if a call was not achieved.
“If we can save lives, if we can do things the good way, that’s fine. And if we have to do it the bad way, that’s also fine,” he told the media, insisting on his plans to talk with the head of the Venezuelan regime, which has been reported on another occasion.
“We can make it easy,” said the president.
Trump’s reason
With this statement, Trump makes clear the reason why he is raising contact with Maduro, thus ruling out any speculation, in the midst of the tensions that led to the suspension of more than 30 international flights to and from Venezuela, following an alert from the FAA about risks in Venezuelan airspace.
American pressure increases with the daily exercises of US military forces in the Caribbean in their campaign against the cartels of the drug trafficking.
Among these is the Cartel of the Suns, for which Maduro and other members of his regime in Venezuela are held responsible, and which the US government designated a “foreign terrorist organization” days ago.
Since September, US naval forces have destroyed more than 20 vessels attributed to drug cartels in the Caribbean and the Pacific, some coming from the Venezuelan coast, alleging defense of national and regional security.
This Wednesday, the US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, is expected to arrive in the Dominican Republic for an official visit in the context of his approach to other countries in the region to support military actions in the Caribbean.
Maduro ignores the US
But Maduro ignores the US.
Shortly before Trump’s words, Maduro threatened his followers with a ban on “not failing” in the face of any US military action.
In an event at the Fuerte Tiuna barracks, his military trench, the dictator said: “There are no excuses for anyone, whether civilian, political, military or police,” at a time when “the country demands the greatest effort and sacrifice.”
“If the country demands, the country will have our lives, if necessary,” he added.
