In the first televised debate against his rival Joe Biden, Donald Trump refused to accept the result of the US presidential election in November without conditions. When asked on CNN on Friday night whether he would accept the result, the Republican said “absolutely” if it was a “fair” election. After the 2020 presidential election, Trump made numerous and clearly refuted allegations of electoral fraud.
Trump went on to say that violence in the November election was “completely unacceptable.” On January 6, 2021, radical Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington, DC, when Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election was to be confirmed there. Trump had previously called on his supporters to march to the Capitol and fight “like hell.” The storming of the Capitol, which left five police officers dead and around 140 injured, caused horror around the world and is considered a black day in the history of US democracy.
