Trump deprives Wahl rival Kamala Harris Personal Protection by Secret Service

US President Donald Trump deprives his election rival Kamala Harris Personal Protection through the Secret Service. This was confirmed by the White House and the ex-Vice President and former presidential candidate of the Democratic Party to the AFP news agency on Friday. As the US news broadcaster CNN reported, Trump instructed his Minister of Homeland Protection Kristi Noem to hire the “security-relevant procedures” for Harris from September 1st. Previously, Trump had already withdrawn several personalities he regarded as an opponent.

After leaving the Office of Vice President, Kamala Harris was entitled to six more months personal protection through the Secret Service in January, as CNN reported on Friday. Personal protection would have expired on July 21. Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden had extended this deadline by one year in a previously not announced order, as CNN reported. Trump now ended this extension.

According to CNN, he instructed Homeland Protection Minister Noem in a memo he signed “all previously through a memorandum of the executive approved security -relevant procedure that goes beyond those required by law” for Harris from September 1st. The Secret Service initially did not comment on AFP demand.

Harris was Vice President of the United States between 2021 and early 2025. Last autumn, as a candidate of the Democratic Party, she competed in the presidential election, but was defeated by the former President Trump from the Republican Party.

Harris’ office told AFP on Friday, the ex-Vice President thanks the Secret Service for his professionalism and his commitment. The Secret Service is responsible for the protection of the US President, the Vice President and the Vice President and other important personalities. Ex-president enjoy lifelong protection.

Harris has largely stayed in the background since her defeat against Trump in the presidential election last November. For autumn, however, the 60-year-old is planning a tour where she advertises her new book and should be more in the light of the public again. The publication of the book “107 Days” (“107 days”) on Harris’ presidential election campaign is planned for September 23.

Harris announced that she wrote the book with “openness and self -view”. She revealed that the election campaign will also give a “look behind the scenes”.

Trump himself became the goal of an assassination in July of last year at an election campaign event, but had survived the attack. After the failed attack on the then Republican presidential candidate in Butler in the state of Pennsylvania, the Secret Service came under criticism because the 20-year-old perpetrator was unintentionally taken on the roof of a neighboring building.

With regard to the assassination attempt, the Trump government repeatedly referred to the need for security for incumbent politicians. However, since he took office in January, Trump has seen several personalities he regarded as an opponent, including personal protection, including his former national security advisor John Bolton, ex-foreign minister Mike Pompeo and the former Corona consultant of the US government, Anthony Fauci.

In March, Trump also deducted the state -owned protectors of Joe Biden’s son Hunter and Bidens daughter Ashley. At the time, Trump described it as “ridiculous” that Hunter Biden was available to a security service of up to 18 people.

The White House justifies the cancellation of the security measures for numerous personalities with the high costs. In addition, people are not entitled to life that many of them are “quite wealthy” and could afford their own bodyguards.

Trump had previously created other standards for his own family: During his first term (2017-2021), the Republican issued an arrangement with which he extended personal protection through the Secret Service for four of his adult children and three high-ranking government representatives by six months.
