Trump: China and Vietnam want the USA together "rip off"

US President Donald Trump has accused China and Vietnam of wanting to “rip” the United States. Trump commented on Monday in the White House on the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping in Vietnam. “This is a wonderful meeting,” said the US President, who had caused turbulence with massive tariffs in the past few weeks. “It is like trying to find out: ‘How can we rip off the United States of America?'”

On Xi’s visit, China and Vietnam also decided on a closer cooperation in view of Trump’s erratic trade policy and signed dozens of agreements. These range from the protection of value chains to artificial intelligence to railway connections.

Trump has raised high tariffs to imports of other countries in the past few weeks, but in the face of massive course bricks on the stock exchanges. The US President is particularly hard against China, which he sees as the main opponent in trade policy. The US tariffs on Chinese imports now add up to 145 percent. China has increased its tariffs to US imports to 125 percent as a countermeasure. Vietnam was also hit hard by Trump’s customs policy.

Numerous countries try to move Trump with direct negotiations with the United States to do without its tariffs. The Japanese Minister Ryosei Akazawa will travel to the USA on Wednesday, as the government in Tokyo announced.
