Former US President Donald Trump says he wants to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday. He will receive Netanyahu, who arrived in Washington on Monday for a visit, at his private residence Mar-a-Lago in Florida, Trump announced on Tuesday in his online network Truth Social.
On Wednesday evening, Netanyahu will first speak to the US Congress in Washington. The speech before both houses of Congress is eagerly awaited – relations between the US and Israel are extremely tense due to the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu will probably also meet President Joe Biden on Thursday. The 81-year-old announced on Sunday that he would not run again due to doubts about his mental and physical fitness. Instead, Vice President Kamala Harris will probably run for the Democrats. She also wants to meet Netanyahu during his US visit.
Trump narrowly survived an attack during a campaign rally on July 13. A few days later, the 78-year-old was officially nominated as the Republican candidate for the presidential election in November.
