The Federal Government’s Transatlantic Coordinator, Michael Link (FDP), has warned against writing off Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump too early. “Here in Chicago, the enthusiasm among the Democrats for Kamala Harris is clearly palpable,” said the FDP politician to the “Augsburger Allgemeine” on Thursday. There is a spirit of optimism and optimism, said Link, who is currently attending the Democratic Party convention in Chicago.
“But the Democrats have to maintain this momentum until the election if they want to win – and two and a half months can be a long time,” stressed the FDP politician. “That means the race is completely open at the moment. We shouldn’t write off any candidate.”
Link hopes that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will present concrete ideas in her speech at the convention, which is scheduled for Thursday. “She used her last appearances in Chicago to present initial ideas on how she wants to help middle-class Americans in the face of high living costs,” says the newspaper’s transatlantic coordinator. “She has a lot more to say about this and especially about foreign, security and trade policy in her main speech on Thursday.”
The Democratic Party Convention began on Monday and will last until Thursday – then Harris will formally accept her nomination as presidential candidate.
