Tiger Woods plans to compete in a PGA tournament next week

LOS ANGELES.- After seven months of absence, Tiger Woods He plans to return to the competition next week at the PGA GENESIS INVITATIONAL GOLF Tournament, his organizers announced this Friday.

“Tiger Woods undertakes to play the 2025 invitational genesis,” the tournament advanced in its X account.

This event is hosted annually by Woods himself in Los Angeles, but the fires that whipped the Californian city last month forced their transfer in this edition to the Campo de Torrey Pins, close to San Diego.

The 49 -year -old golf star does not participate in an official tournament from the British Open in Julio, in which he did not exceed the cut.

Woods only competes in specific tournaments, mainly in the Grand Slam and in the events in which it is involved, from a serious car accident suffered in 2021, which left sequels in the right leg.

Last year he barely participated in five competitions before being operated in the back in September. In December he took the sticks again to play with his son Charlie the PNC Championship exhibition tournament.

Invitational Genesis, scheduled from February 13 to 16, is usually played at the Riviera Country Club, close to areas that were razed by the largest of Los Angeles fires, registered in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

The field facilities were not affected, but were within the mandatory evacuation zone, so the organizers decided to transfer the tournament to Torrey Pines, located about 200 kilometers south.

Woods, winner of 82 PGA titles, has achieved eight victories in Torrey Pines along his legendary career.

Love retires Uruguay from surveillance list

The World Anti -Doping Agency (AMA) withdrew Uruguay from its surveillance list, after including it in September 2024 by “pending breaches” of the agency’s updated code.

Uruguay entered the list with Pakistan and Uganda. In its allegation of inclusion, the AMA pointed out that the legislation of some of those states conflict with their norms.

In the announcement of this Thursday, the AMA said that the National Anti -Doping Organization of the South American country provided information and documentation that allowed us to conclude that the actions that had been considered fouls “had already been corrected in their entirety.”
