The Miami Dolphins They have enough names on their roster to compete today and most of them should be back by 2025; However, there are still many holes to fill if they want to compete for the Super Bowl title in the next contest.
It is possible that the window of success with this core of players will begin to close for the South Florida currency after the 2025 season. With that in mind, below are three things to improve for the Dolphins front office during the next break between contests.
A new quarterback
Regardless of what may happen with Tua Tagovailoa in the rest of 2024, Miami needs to add another quality quarterback to its roster who has the potential to become an important figure for the institution moving forward.
That does not mean that Tagovailoa is not or cannot become the great strength of the team, but his history of injuries, especially concussions, is something that can continue to compromise the Dolphins’ aspirations in the coming seasons.
The safety position needs reinforcements
Jevon Holland is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of this season and it does not appear that general manager Chris Grier is in any hurry to offer him a new contract. If Miami ultimately loses him, it will create a considerable void at the safety position.
Jordan Poyer and Marcus Maye are on one-year deals with the Dolphins and while Miami will certainly try to retain them, they may not be the ideal candidates to fill the position full-time.
Help on the defensive line
In theory, Miami would have Jaelan Phillips back by 2025 and if they keep Bradley Chubb, the outlook does not look bleak.
However, the defensive line needs improvement. Zach Sieler and Calais Campbell have been good, but the depth hasn’t been up to par.
It is not necessary for the Miami board to overpay any free agent. Retaining Campbell and drafting a player who can contribute early would make a big difference.
