ATHENS.- The Greek Ministry of Culture rejected a request from the filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, Oscar winner for his movie Poor creaturesto record in the Acropolisclaiming that the scenes do not match the image of the historic place.
“The proposed scenes are incompatible with symbolism … and the values represented by the acropolis,” the ministry justified in a statement issued recently.
The recording of Bugoniathe new film of the Greek director, had to take place on April 10 at the best -known archaeological site in Greece.
Greek media reported that the scenes in question included lifeless bodies scattered throughout the acropolis rock.
The Ministry suggested alternative exterior locations near the monument.
Lanthimos, 51, won several awards in Europe and the United States, including an Oscar for Emma Stone for the film Poor creatures In 2024.
