iconic woman
The prologue of Mireya Rodríguez’s book about the leader Maria Corina Machado was carried out by Dr. Asdrúbal Aguiar, General Secretary of the IDEA Group.
“María Corina Machado is, certainly, a womaniconic r in the event of the Venezuela contemporary. It occupies one of the fundamental chapters of my recent book, ‘Venezuela: In the anteroom of history’ (2024). It expresses a social phenomenon of ‘liminality’, or historical transition, liminal to the political. “It represents, as anthropologists would say, the Venezuelan who has discovered the absolute incompatibility between the profane and the sacred, between the presence of absolute evil and respect for human dignity,” says Aguiar.
He asserts that, “after the elections that defeated the satrapy of Nicolás Maduro, his libertarian feat acquires meaning and purpose as an incarnation of the sentiment that today pushes and amalgamates the Venezuelan nation, and to resolve its pulverization through the fulfillment of a true rite transition”.
Regarding the author of the book, Mireya Rodríguez, Aguiar indicates that she has “sufficient intellectual equipment to have scrutinized with criteria, and supported by the data that she collects and compares, the political process of Venezuela since 1999.”
