MIAMI.- The former Undersecretary of Terrorist Financing of the Treasury Department of USAMarshall Billingslea, came forward in the case of the Colombian businessman Alex Saab in Venezuela and summoned the Chavista Jorge Rodriguezpresident of Parliament, to clarify whether or not Saab was a diplomatic Venezuelan.
Billingslea, in a message on the
“It means that the US can decide to arrest a diplomat under any condition it wants,” said the Chavista deputy, according to the video posted by the Republican politician.

“I guess Alex Saab wasn’t a Venezuelan diplomat after all, right?” wrote the Hudson Institute researcher, alluding directly to Caracas’ current position of denying Venezuelan nationality and diplomatic investiture, after handing over Maduro’s front man to US justice.
The brief message from Billingslea, considered one of the architects of the sanctions against the Maduro regime, is interpreted as a sign that the Trump government is closely following the contradictory reactions of Venezuelan officials to the Saab case.
