They arrest in Miami to man accused of cheating more than $ 280,000 to TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores

Miami.– A man identified as Eduardo Rodríguez, 47, was arrested Tuesday in Cutler Bay for his alleged participation in a large -scale fraud scheme that, according to judicial authorities and records, caused losses of more than $ 280,000 to TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores in southern Florida and other cities of the State between 2022 and 2025.

The investigation, initiated in 2023 by an internal TJX Companies researcher (parent company of the affected stores), revealed that Rodríguez used at least 18 credit cards and 11 gift cards to buy online products such as boots and shoes, which later returned in store to generate labels without description. Subsequently, it replied the items and made fraudulent returns in other branches with lower value products.

Thousands of transactions

In total, more than 1,460 returns are attributed for a value of $ 288,104 and 744 sales for a total of $ 232,400, including transactions through its commercial position in Redland Market Village, in Homestead. To continue the scheme after being blocked in January 2024, he used new addresses and profiles, also involving his wife and son in operations.

The authorities documented 985 fraudulent transactions between January 2024 and July 2025, which represented specific losses of 128,018.38 dollars for TJX, in addition to other irregularities detected since December 2022.

Fraud arrest

Rodríguez was arrested on the spot while trying to return four pairs of Timberland boots for $ 278 in a TJ Maxx in Cutler Bay. In their vehicle there were more shoes and receipts, and in their home and business were found articles allegedly linked to fraud. A judge imposed a bail of $ 40,000 and prohibited the entrance of TJ Maxx and Marshalls in Miami-Dade.

A TJX spokesman declared: “We are aware of the recent arrest and we appreciate the support of the Sheriff’s office and the Miami-Dade Police Department. Since this is an ongoing investigation, we will send any additional comments to the authorities.”
