The Venezuelan diaspora calls for the freedom of political prisoners in Venezuela

MIAMI – The Venezuelan diaspora gathered in the surroundings of Doral, to participate in the Great Banner for the Freedom of Political Prisonerson a day dedicated to the military and police officers kidnapped by the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro.

During the activity, attendees denounced the cruel and inhuman treatment to which political prisoners are subjected and raised their cry for freedom for all those who, with honor, defended the Constitution and their oath to the country.

The event featured the participation of human rights defender Gustavo Sánchez Andara, who raised his voice for the freedom of Rafael Tudárez, son-in-law of the Venezuelan opposition leader, Edmundo González Urrutia, currently deprived of liberty.

In addition, the relatives of the political prisoners attended: Mary Carmen Goicetti, cousin of Captain Antonio Sequea; the political express Zoris Torres; Merys Torres de Sequea, mother of Captain Sequea; and Liliana de Heredia, relative of Captain Ángelo Heredia.

For his part, the commissioner of Doral, Rafael Piñeyro, recalled the sacrifice of the Metropolitan Police and the military who fulfilled their oath to serve the country, despite the regime’s reprisals.

“Freedom of Venezuela”

Amid applause, attendees reaffirmed their commitment to the freedom of Venezuela and the defense of human rights, remembering that political prisoners “pay with their freedom the price of dignity and loyalty to their oath.”

“From the heart of the Venezuelan diaspora, we remain firm until all political prisoners are released and Venezuela regains its freedom,” the organizers proclaimed at the close of the event.

“From the heart of the Venezuelan diaspora, in Miami, in El Arepazo, we ask for freedom for the police and soldiers unjustly detained. Good Venezuelans who are imprisoned for swearing to the Constitution and the uniform. Freedom for all political prisoners, for the workers, the innocent, the mothers and the union members! Long live a free Venezuela!”

The event also paid tribute to Rafael Tudárez, who was described as a victim of the regime “for being the son-in-law of the President of the Republic and commander in chief Edmundo González Urrutia.”

With banners, flags and messages of hope, the Venezuelan diaspora reaffirmed its commitment to the freedom of all political prisoners and its desire for a Venezuela free of repression and persecution.
