The United States announced on Thursday a new package of sanctions against the Cuban regime, in particular against nine Castro regime entities.
These entities, mainly from the mining and metallurgical sectors, “support the regime’s repressive apparatus by exercising control over key economic sectors,” said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a statement.
Likewise, he announced other sanctions directed against the leaders of the so-called Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), which is nothing more than an espionage and subversion entity against the United States.
Washington accuses Cuba of financing, particularly through this Institute, “a broad network in the United States aimed at identifying, recruit and radicalize subversive elements that operate mainly under the pretext of (‘educational or cultural exchanges’).”
Rubio pointed out that a few days ago “the (Cuban) regime tried to take advantage of Fidel Castro’s centenary (…) to reactivate this subversive network, sending a new brigade of international sympathizers to Havana to establish contacts with those in charge of the regime.”
More pressure on the dictatorship
The head of US diplomacy, the son of Cuban parents, is considered the main architect of the maximum pressure policy exercised by President Donald J Trump against the murderous Castro regime, which has exercised its control and repression for 67 years.
Since January, the United States has imposed an oil blockade on the country of 9.4 million inhabitants, which has worsened the energy crisis that has existed for decades due to the lack of investments in the electrical grid in a socialist system that destroys the economy, civic and institutional system, human rights, freedoms and infrastructure, in addition to sociopolitical damage.
The US government has also imposed a series of drastic sanctions, directed in particular against Gaesa, the military conglomerate founded by Raúl Castro in 1995, which controls and monopolizes almost 90% of the income from abroad and which ends up in the pockets of the leadership of the misgovernment or Castro dynasty.
All large mining and tourism companies have left the Island, following the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration, which seeks to end the 67 years of repression and export of socialist and anti-American ideology throughout the world, but especially in the Western Hemisphere.
