With 10 selections in your hand, the Miami Dolphins They deposit great hopes in the NFL Draft 2025 to fill the holes in their team. The appointment will be from April 24 to 26 in Green Bay.
The Dolphins have lost important players after the failed 2024 season and so far have spent little on free agency.
Due to the movements of the club and by the expressions of the general manager of the franchise, Chris Grier, it is clear that the main source from where the Dolphins intend to reinforce is the Draft and the Postdraft, that is, the group of players who are not selected.
“In the draft we need players who are ready for the NFL,” said Grier. “We have to hit the person and in character. You usually look at a year in the future. We want to invest in young players to fill the positions we lack.”
The Dolphins lost very important players after the last campaign.
The Defensive Tackle Calais Campbell passed to the Arizona Cardinals, the Safety Jevon Holland went to the New York Giants, the Offensive Tarkle Terron Armstead retired and last Tuesday the news that the cornerback Jalen Ramsey and the Miami club agreed to put the player in the exchange list.
Precisely the positions of the players who have left are the ones that will try to fill the Dolphins in the draft. The possibilities of making great hiring are not envisioned. The great money was invested last year in the improvement of quarterback tua tagovaila contracts, the Wide Receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and Ramsey.
Even this year, the Dolphins have not wanted to restructure Tua’s salary, which would have opened a salary space of 19 million dollars.
Last July, TUA signed an extension with the Dolphins for four years and 212.4 million dollars.
Just in the second game last season, against the Buffalo Bills, Tua suffered a brain shock, four games were left and derailed the team’s campaign. In total there were six games without playing.
The Dolphins tested three other quarterbacks and did not give the size.
Last March, the Miami club hired Zach Wilson, from the Denver Broncos, for six million dollars and one year.
Grier anticipated that in Draft 2025 they will not look for a quarterback.
“I can say that we have our titular quartback, therefore we will not look for one in the draft,” said the manager. “Nothing can be ruled out, but we don’t think about that position for the first round of the draft.”
It is true that many things can change. If you exchange Ramsey, the Dolphins could increase the 10 selections they already have.
On the other hand, Grier anticipated that they will not redeem Hill, but if someone offers for example two elections in the first round-which is very rare-then I might think about it.
The future of the Dolphins will be based on the group of young people who will be chosen in the next draft. These young people, however, need veterans to be guided by the right way especially in the year of rookies. And several of those veterans are gone.
Grier says that at the moment the Dolphins have men with the qualities to serve as mentors to the newcomers.
“The players we have brought from free agency have the qualities of human beings to be leaders, because they have been in other teams,” said Grier. “In addition to home we have people with that capacity like Zach Sieer, Tyreek (Hill), (Jaylen) Waddle, Alec Ingold, Austin Jackson and we feel comfortable.”
The manager ruled out that the Dolphins will enter a reconstruction stage, such as the one that led the then newly hired coach Brian Flores in 2019.
Everything indicates that the Miami franchise does not go in that direction. The facts show that a lot of money has been invested in a few players and that to meet their numerous needs they must resort to the draft.
Faced with these circumstances, it is very difficult for 2025 to be a competitor team. If they end with a winning record it will be enough. If they arrive at the playoffs it will be a triumph. More cannot be expected.
