Spanish football is mourning the death of Jesús de Miguel, forward of CD Tenerife, who died this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after suffering a serious accident during the match against FC Andorra, corresponding to the Spanish Second Division.
The 30-year-old footballer suffered serious injuries to his head and chest after being involved in a strong collision with goalkeeper Jesús Owono during the last minutes of the match played on Monday. The goalkeeper was sent off for the action.
Initially, De Miguel’s health condition was described as “stable, but serious.” However, his condition worsened on Tuesday morning and, at 8:00 a.m., his death was confirmed.
The news was communicated by CD Tenerife itself through an emotional message on its official channels, in which it expressed the deep pain of the institution for the loss of the forward.
“Broken with pain, with a lump in my throat and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we announce the tragic death, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda,” the club said.
The entity also expressed its solidarity with the player’s family and loved ones, in addition to recognizing the impact of the news among its fans.
«There are no words of consolation; There is absolutely nothing that mitigates this feeling full of sadness. We are with his devastated family, with his loved ones, with all the people of Tenerife who cry today for this cruel outcome,” the statement added.
A collision that ended in tragedy
The accident occurred when Tenerife and Andorra tied 2-2, in the seventh minute of added time. In a game action, goalkeeper Jesús Owono left his area to try to clear a long ball and ended up hitting De Miguel with his knee.
The severity of the crash forced the match to be stopped so that the medical services could attend to the striker. The footballer was later transferred to a hospital, where he remained under medical observation.
Although during the first hours there was hope for a favorable evolution, the deterioration of his health ended up causing the most painful outcome.
