He Spain coach, Luis de la Fuentedenied again this Friday that there is any conflict with the Barcelona following the accusations of the culé coach, Hansi Flickof not taking care of the players after the injury of Lamine Yamal.
“Not at all. There is no conflict either with Flick or with Barça, there is no problem,” declared De la Fuente in a press conference prior to the third qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup against Georgia.
In the controversy over Lamine Yamal “I feel fully supported (by the federation), I have a contract until 2028. I want to continue until 2030, I feel very supported,” added the Rioja coach to settle the controversy that arose from the Barcelona winger’s injury during the September break.
“We are playing for World Cup qualification, we have to win these games. Georgia is a rival with very good players, we have to give the best version to be able to win,” he stated to focus on Saturday’s game.
Asked about Dani Olmo’s injury during morning training, De la Fuente pointed out that the player “came tired” and with some discomfort.
“Today (Friday) he trained for 15 minutes and did not feel comfortable. They went to do some tests, the rest are all in perfect condition,” he said.
“It upsets me because I am very fond of him and it hurts me. Whether he belongs to one club or another are unpleasant circumstances. I wish none of them fell,” he said.
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, De la Fuente indicated that he carries out the position of coach “very naturally.”
“One of the key words is balance. It helps me a lot. You don’t have to think that you are the best when you win and the worst when you lose. I ask them to give their best. For me there is no such thing as failure, because if you give everything it is impossible to ask for more,” he noted.
“Criticism exists and I live it naturally, although a little on the sidelines so that it doesn’t hurt me and I am very happy. I make decisions freely and when I make a mistake, I make a mistake, I don’t let myself be influenced,” he concluded.
