Shooting at Oregon elementary school leaves at least two injured, including a minor

LOS ANGELES.- At least two people, including a minor, were injured this Thursday during a shooting at an elementary school in the city of Bend, in the state of Oregon, local authorities reported.

The injured were taken to a hospital to receive medical attention, although no details have been provided so far about their condition.

The alleged attacker would have died after being shot by police officers, according to Sheila Miller, Communications Director of the Bend Police Department, informed the press.

At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the suspect or the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The state governor, Tina Kotek, indicated in a message on her Facebook account that she is monitoring the situation and thanked the authorities for the quick response.

The communications director added that there were “several victims” related to this event, although she did not specify details.

The United States has seen more than 350 mass shootings so far this year, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive, which counts these types of incidents and considers mass shootings to be those in which the number of dead or injured is four or more, not including the shooter.

One of the most recent shootings took place last Saturday, in which at least eight people died, two of them children, after a shooter opened fire in the town of Erie, in northern Pennsylvania, before taking his own life.
