PARIS.- The Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka will finish the season as world number 1 for the second consecutive year, according to the classification WTA published this Monday, the day after the Women’s Masters.
Despite the fact that the 27-year-old player lost the final of the masters tournament against the Kazakh Elena Rybakinahas achieved the most victories (63) and has broken the record for prize income in a single season in the women’s circuit ($15,008,519).
Sabalenka won four titles in 2025, including a Grand Slam (US Open), in addition to playing the final in two other majors (Australian Open and Roland Garros).
Proof of its superiority, it will end the year with 2,475 points ahead of N.2, the Polish Iga Swiatek.
Rybakina, for her part, ends the year in great shape after a poor streak of results that led her to fall to 13th place in the rankings in July and closed the season with her second greatest success after the title at Wimbledon in 2022.
The Kazakh player will end the year in 5th place in the WTA ranking, two places from her best ranking (3rd in 2023).
