From crisis manager to mocked: Rudy Giuliani is experiencing an unprecedented crash. Now the daughter of the Trump confidant is speaking out – with a recommendation to vote.
The daughter of long-time Trump ally Rudy Giuliani has urgently called for the election of Democratic US presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Her Republican opponent Donald Trump is “currently the greatest threat to our country,” Caroline Rose Giuliani told US broadcaster CNN. “He is willing to hurt his own people just for power, and Kamala Harris would never do that. She is a woman who has fought for the people her entire career,” the 35-year-old warned. Harris and Trump are running against each other in the presidential election on November 5th.
Rudy Giuliani: Once respected – now ridiculed
During Trump’s term in office, Giuliani was considered a close ally of the then US President, but he is now struggling with a number of legal problems. Most recently, he lost his law license and was charged, among other things, in the US state of Arizona in connection with attempting to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The former mayor of New York – Trump’s hometown – was once well respected. During the attacks of September 11th, as mayor of the metropolis, he was something like the top crisis coordinator.
In recent years, the 80-year-old has been increasingly ridiculed for a number of bizarre appearances. In July, he fell into an empty row of chairs at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. The media repeatedly reported that the ex-mayor had an alcohol problem. The public prosecutor’s office also examined Giuliani’s alcohol consumption in connection with investigations against him. Giuliani rejects this.
“He’s still my father”
Giuliani’s daughter published a text about her father in Vanity Fair magazine a few days ago. “Watching my father’s life fall apart since he aligned himself with Trump has been extraordinarily painful,” she wrote. “My father and I have a cartoonishly complicated relationship. But he is still my father, and despite his flaws, I love him.” She witnessed him experience “surreal highs” and now “unfathomable lows.” “The deeper my father gets into the quicksand of his problems, the more fleeting our opportunities to meet as father and daughter become.”
