Religion Trump threatens Nigeria with military strikes

US President Donald Trump accuses Nigeria’s government of not adequately protecting Christians in the country from Islamist attacks. If necessary, he wants to get involved.

US President Donald Trump has threatened Nigeria’s government with military strikes in the West African country. He cited the reason that Islamist terrorists were killing Christians there. He is currently instructing the Pentagon to prepare for a possible deployment, the Republican wrote on the Truth Social platform. Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had previously emphasized on Platform X: “Nigeria rejects and does not promote religious persecution.”

Trump went on to write that if the Nigerian government continued to allow this killing, the US would immediately stop all aid to the country. And they will come to the “disgraced” country to eradicate the Islamist terrorists who committed these atrocities. If there is an attack, it will be quick and brutal. Trump concluded: “WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER HURRY!”

Threat from Donald Trump: Nigeria’s president defends himself

The day before, the US President had already written in another post on Truth Social that Christianity in Nigeria was facing an existential threat. He claimed that thousands of Christians had been killed. They are ready to save all of Christianity in the world. The USA classified Nigeria as a country in which particularly serious violations of religious freedom occur (Country of Particular Concern). For example, China and Russia are also on this US list.

Nigeria’s President Tinubu rejected this. Characterizing Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect the reality in the country or takes into account the government’s efforts to protect the freedom of religion and belief of all Nigerians.

He further wrote that the administration is committed to working with the U.S. government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation in protecting faith communities.
