PARIS.- The French attacker of Paris Saint-Germain, Désiré Doueinjured in a match Ligue 1 on Wednesday, he will be “unavailable for several weeks,” the Parisian club announced.
The 20-year-old had to be stretchered off in the 60th minute of the 1-1 draw with the Lorient and suffers “a muscle injury to his right thigh,” PSG said in its statement.
The attacker will therefore miss the duel Champions League against him Bayern Munich next Tuesday. PSG announced that they will give updates on Doué’s status “after the international matches in November.”
This injury represents a new setback for Doué, who had just returned after six weeks out due to a right calf injury.
He played against Strasbourg (3-3), in the rout of Bayer Leverkusen (2-7), in the victory against Brest (3-0) and on Wednesday in Lorient, a brief period in which he managed to score three goals and distributed two assists.
Back to the ring
Without Désiré Doué, injured for “several weeks” on Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain has the mission of beating Nice on Saturday in the 11th matchday of Ligue 1 to remain leader, just before an important Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
Forgetting that commitment against the German giant will surely be the main difficulty for Luis Enrique, who does not want any more surprises, after Wednesday’s disappointing 1-1 draw in Lorient.
“Football is like that, but you don’t have to worry,” said the Spanish coach this Friday at a press conference.
“Let’s not forget that we are still first, but of course we must improve. Ligue 1 is won by the team that is most consistent, not in the first ten games of the season, but throughout the entire campaign,” he recalled.
That match in Brittany also claimed Doué as a victim, with a hamstring problem that will make PSG’s mission difficult in their next matches.
Opposite on Saturday will be a Nice team that is eighth in the table and that last season already won at the Parc des Princes by 1-3.
“I know they will want a victory before playing against Bayern, but we are going there to see what we can achieve. We won there last season with a lot of energy and a lot of success,” recalled Nice coach Franck Haise.
