LOS ANGELES.- The owners of the teams of the NFL They will vote next week a resolution that would authorize their players to compete in the Olympic Tournament of ‘Flag Football’, a no contact mode of the American football, of the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.
According to a statement issued Thursday by the League, the matter was included in the agenda of the meeting held by the owners in Minnesota.
The resolution establishes the norms of participation of the NFL figures that, in case of receiving the green light, could form a new ‘Dream Team’ that expands the popularity of their sport worldwide.
The regulation on the table contemplates the inclusion of a single player per team in each of the participating national teams.
Several NFL stars have expressed interest in competing for the Olympic medals of the ‘flag football’.
Among them stand out the ‘Quarterbacks’ Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Jalen Hurts (Eagles), rivals in the last Super Bowl.
In the ‘Flag Football’, which usually confronts teams of five members (sometimes seven), to stop a player, one of the two cloth strips holding their hips must be taken away.
This modality does not allow physical obstruction, which considerably reduces the risk of injuries, including brain shocks, one of the great dangers in American football.
