Naval Academy shooting in Maryland: the authorities ensure the area

Miami— The United States Naval Academy (USNA), located in Annapolis, Maryland, is currently closed after a Guardiamarina, previously expelled from the institution, returned to the armed campus, as reported multiple sources to Fox News.

The incident occurred in Bancroft Hall, the building that houses the guards, where shots were heard. One of the victims was transferred via medical helicopter, while others are being evaluated by health personnel.

However, an email obtained by Fox News by Captain David formed, a Guardiamarinas subcomandante, indicated that a subject confused authorized agents of the law with a threat, which resulted in a confrontation in which he was injured. According to the statement, the Midshipman is stable and receiving medical care.

A campus officer said that “the shooter called to the doors posing as a military police,” which increased confusion during the incident.

For his part, a Navy representative confirmed that Secretary John Phelan is aware of the situation and receives real -time updates from NCIS and the leadership of the USNA. “The Academy is in blocking due to extreme caution. This situation is in development and we will provide updates as new information is available,” said an officer.

The Naval Support Activity Annapolis, in coordination with the Local Police, is also responding to threat reports, Lieutenant Naweed Lemar reported.

“The base is in precautionary blocking. This is a development situation and we will provide updates as they have,” he added.

A war department official confirmed that the agency is monitoring the situation together with the Navy, and that Secretary Hegseth has been informed.

An academy alumnus described Fox Digital for the shocking and distressing one that should have been for the guardian trapped inside the building, which is historically considered their home and workplace, and houses more than 4,000 people. “Bancroft Hall is extremely safe, with two main control points operated 24/7 by armed guards. Theoretically, no one can enter without a CAC access card,” said the ex -student.

The incident continues under investigation, and the authorities have asked the community to avoid the area while the blockade is maintained and the campus is ensured.
