Musk: Without budget cuts, the USA threatens Bankrott

The US billionaire and Trump consultant Elon Musk has defended his controversial budget cuts in US authorities. The United States has a “deficit of two trillion dollars,” said Musk on Tuesday (local time) alongside US President Donald Trump ahead of journalists in the White House. Without budget cuts, the country will “head to bankrupt” in view of this deficit.

Washington has no choice but to lower the federal expenditure, said Musk. “It is essential.”

Trump, who had supported him massively in the election campaign, entrusted Musk with the management of a new Department of State Efficiency (Doge). In this function, Musk is responsible for the massive personnel and cost reduction in the federal authorities.

With Trump’s approval, Musk began saving the US Ministry of Finance and the development authority USA. His team received access to the personnel and financial data from millions of US citizens through the US Ministry of Finance. In the meantime, a US judge has blocked Musk team’s access to the payment system and other data from the Ministry of Finance.

Critics point out that many steps from the presidential advisor are illegal and that the supervisory function of the congress stipulated in the constitution disregarded.

When asked about the criticism, Musk now said that the US citizens voted for a “large government reform” in the presidential election in November. He pointed out that Trump “spoke about it at every election campaign event”. The tech billionaire added that he and his team would take account of their work “as transparently as possible”.
